Jellyfish
by Grace, staff editor
Jellyfish are beautiful creatures. They are also dangerous. There are many different types of jellyfish. Some jellyfish are invisible, some glow in the dark or are very small. Not many jellyfish are deadly.
Did you know there are 23 jellyfish stings in 5 seconds. So there are 46 stings in 10 seconds. That means 92 stings in 20 seconds. That’s a lot of stings.
Jellyfish have been alive forever. I don’t mean one hundred years ago. I don’t even mean a couple thousand years ago. I mean since before dinosaurs. I mean forever.
Some jellyfish are immortal, they can grow younger. When they are threatened the go back to the stage where they grip the bottom of the sea. These jellyfish live can live forever.
A group of jellies is called a bloom. These blooms are not like flower blooms. A bloom can be dangerous if it is big.
When jellyfish wash up on shore they die. Sometimes people step in them. Though they are dead their stingers still work. So people still get stung.
Jellyfish don’t think of what they’re doing. They don’t think where they want to go or who they want to sting; they just do it. Jellies also can’t feel. They don’t feel sad when their children go away. They don’t feel happy when they catch their food. Jellyfish are just floating blobs in the ocean.

Jellyfish can't feel anything. They don’t care when they sting you. They can barely even feel anything! They don’t have a brain or heart.
