                     Fourth Nor’easter in Three Weeks
Rams Record Editor
Allison

Wednesday, March 21 a Nor’easter hit the Northeast region. This was the fourth Nor’easter in three weeks. More than 4,400 flights were cancelled because of the large snow amounts. A fatal crash in New York, and two in New Jersey were blamed on slippery conditions and poor visibility. The two Governors called a state of emergency. New Jersey Transit pulled their busses of the road around 3 pm, when the storm picked up. The weather system was what was left of a strong storm that barreled through the south. The awesome storm brought hail in Texas on Sunday, tornadoes in Alabama on Monday, and on Tuesday, severe storms in Florida. Utilities reported more than 88,000 people without power, and of those 73,000 were in New Jersey. The last time there have been four Nor’easters so close together, was 2015 with four storms from January 26 to February 15.
A Nor’easter is a long area of low pressure that travels up the east coast. It gets its name because the winds typically come from the northeast. Many storms have large amounts of snowfall, but not all Nor’easters have snow. They occur year round, but are most frequent from September to April. The storms normally develop between Georgia and New Jersey and move north to New England and Canada. The jet stream transports cold air south out of Canada then east. Then the Atlantic Ocean warm air tries to move north. This causes a difference in temperature with the warm air over the water and the cold over the land. All of these things cause the Nor’easter storm.

ALL-STAR WEEKEND
Michael, Rams Record Editor

It’s almost all-star weekend and the votes are in. There has been a lot of controversy over
the players who have and haven’t been selected. First, let’s look at who was selected. The two
captains for the new all-star draft system are LeBron James and Stephen Curry. The rest of the
starters are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Demarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan,
Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. The reserves are LaMarcus
Aldridge, Bradley Beal, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Damian Lillard, Kevin
Love, Kyle Lowry, Victor Oladipo, Kristaps Porzingis, Klay Thompson, Karl-Anthony Towns,
John Wall, and Russell Westbrook.
You may be reading this and asking where are Paul George, Devin Booker, Lou Williams, Nikola
Jokic, Donovan Mitchell, and maybe even Goran Dragic? The Heat have been killing it recently
and in my opinion Dragic is the reason why. You may say Chris Paul but I think he’s been injured
too much to be an all-star.  Well, if you were wondering, I was wondering that too. These guys
have been disrespected by fans and media, especially Paul George. He’s been a top 3 defender in
the NBA and he hasn’t skipped a beat on offense, continuing to be a great three-point shooter and
just a great all around scorer.
In my opinion Paul George, Devin Booker, and Lou Williams are all having better seasons than
Klay Thompson and Donovan Mitchell is having one of the best rookie seasons in the modern era.
I think Goran Dragic deserves to be an all-star more than John Wall because the Heat have been
great and the Wizards have been disappointing.
I also think Nikola Jokic deserves the spot over Draymond Green but I think it just came down to
the fact that there are more Warriors fans than Nuggets fans. There have been some injuries and
to replace those players they put in Andre Drummond for John Wall and they replaced Demarcus
Cousins with Paul George so at least one big snub is now on the team. Who is to replace Kevin
Love is undecided but I’ll leave a link to five possible candidates.

By: Madelyn/Rams Editor

He shoots and he scores! Or, was that SHE! Your never know which CCS basketball team is ruling the court! In case you are interested in basketball as a spectator or participant, I wanted to let you know about Chichester school basketball. We at Chichester have always had strong Basketball teams. However, this year we could use some players, especially on the girls team. There are four teams in all. The  team you will be assigned to depends on your grade level. The 5-6 grade boys have their own team. The girls also have a team this year but there are not many players on it so they need players. If you want to play, go see Mr. Cipriano as soon as possible. The 5th and 6th graders girls practices are: Monday-Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. On Wednesday it is from 4:00-5:30 pm. There's no practice on Thursday but on Friday there is a practice right after school from 2:45-4:00. The 5th and 6th boys practices are on Monday-Tuesday 2:45-4:00 and on Thursday and Friday they have practice from 2:45-4:00 again. On Friday the boys and girls practice is together.
Seventh and eighth grade boys have a pretty good sized team. The 7th and 8th grade girls team only has 8 players so they could also use some players. The boy practices are on Monday and Tuesday from 7:00-8:30 and on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 5:30-7:00. The girls practices are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:30 and on Wednesday their practice is from 2:45-4:00. On Friday they do not have practice.
Just to recap, if you would like to play, especially for the girls’ team, then just let Mr. Cipriano know at tcipriano@sau53.org and he will give you more information about playing. If you can’t play this season, consider playing next season.
