Chichester Central School 8th Grade Graduation
Allison, Rams Record Editor

My name is Allison, and I am proud to say I graduated with the wonderful class of 2018.  Our graduation was on June 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm. We marched in to the pomp and circumstance, then were led in the pledge of allegiance by Khateria.  After the pledge was finished we were seated by our class marshals, Kaydence and Aislyn. Our class president Summer read a welcome address. After that we were treated to a beautiful musical presentation of “Count on Me”, written by Bruno Mars and performed by Olivia, Laci, Anna, Maya and Amara.

The next presentation was an inspiring commencement speech written and read by Mason.  All of the graduates were able to relate, which made it even more personal to each and everyone of them.  In his speech, Mason analogized life to the class field trip we once went on. It was a hike up Mt. Major in Alton, New Hampshire.  He compared the beginning of the trail with the beginning of life. It was a very easy walk when our parents helped us along with everything.  As the trail continued the slope grew steeper, representing the challenges we face as we slowly grow more and more independent from our parents and take on more responsibilities. Eventually we got to a part of the trail on which we had to make a choice to follow either a longer route that was not as challenging, or a shorter route that was more difficult. Some of us chose the longer patch, others the shorter, more rigorous path. No matter what path we chose we all reached the top and saw the view. At that moment we all knew that no matter what path we chose they were both equally valuable and worth the travel.

After this speech, my fellow class officers and I announced our class gift.  Each year the graduating class will purchase something they think everyone at school can use.  This year we purchased a metal decorative stand that classes can use for dances or graduation and other events.

After the speech, our World War II re-enactment was viewed.  It was filmed and edited by Maya. Mrs. Dockham, a teacher at CCS, kindly made a slideshow of pictures of all of the graduates throughout their years at CCS.  Mr. Beaverstock, our school’s principal introduced some community members to present various awards to the graduates. Afterwards, all the graduates were presented with their diplomas.  Mrs. Paine, Chichester’s music teacher then played the accompaniment to the song “Farewell to Chichester” as the new 9th graders sang. Our class song “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire was played as we marched out, ready to face what’s ahead.

On that note I want to finish this article with a message to my fellow graduates:
I could not be more proud to be part of the graduating class of 2018.  All of you are kind, considerate, and caring of others. We have grown as a family since kindergarten, and have all been in one class since third grade.  As Mason mentioned in his commencement speech we all will have to eventually chose our own paths, but I hope that they will all crisscross every once in a while allowing us to keep in touch through the forthcoming years.  Thank you for all of the wonderful memories together.
Allison Miner

Chief-Editor's Note:  Allison was a stellar member of our Rams Record Staff for several years. She will be missed but hope to see her byline at Pembroke Academy. On behalf of all the Rams Writers, we at the Rams Record wish you well! You certainly lived up to our byline: "Do you have a hard head for news? WE DO!"  Best of Life, Allison...Mrs. Audet

                                                              The No Waste Lifestyle
Sophia, Rams Record Editor

I have always been intrigued by the no-waste life styles. A no-waste lifestyle is living a life to create as little waste as you can to help the environment. A lot of people start with a “why”. WHY am I doing this?  Do you hate to see plastic floating around in rivers and on the side of roads? Do you hate to see thousands of pounds of trash in abandoned landfills? Your reasons could be anything you want them to be. Maybe you want to just try this lifestyle because you think it would be cool.
The first thing you can do is completely use your non-environmental friendly shampoo bottles,  bags of chips, and plastic bags from the grocery store and try buying things in bulk. You can buy shampoo bars and safety razors that are more environmentally friendly. The razors have no plastic, and they come with extra razor blades. Recycle whatever you can and compost whenever you can to help produce less trash and waste. You can donate items as gifts for your friends. The fewer items you throw in the trash the better. You need to remember that this is going to take a while. You can’t change your whole lifestyle to help change the environment in one day. This will take time.
It will help if you can buy washable cloths instead of paper towels and napkins too. A lot of people buy reusable bags,  bamboo toothbrushes, bamboo cutlery, and women buy different feminine-care products that are less waste producing. You can always watch videos to learn more, but you need to remember that yes this will take time. NO this will not be easy, but I promise it will be worth it!

This is what we don’t want

This is what we DO want!!!

How to Get Followers on Twitch
Jacob,Rams Record Editor

This is just a guide on how to get followers on Twitch, or to use as a guide for people who have misconceptions on live streaming.

Tip #1 STREAM OFTEN! A regular live streamer will stream as much as a full time job. Yes, I know what your saying. That’s a long time! Yeah this isn’t... How should I say, this isn’t just about playing games. You need to stream a lot because people don’t watch others for 1 hour and leave. No! No! No! If I leave a stream in the morning and I go to work or school I should be able to watch the stream later. If you don’t want to search the person up again because you’re lazy, you can just follow them.

Tip #2 INTERACT WITH YOUR WITH YOUR VIEWERS!!! Your viewers are gonna get bored if you don’t read the chat. That’s because it will make them feel special and part of the community. Personally I like to use two monitors. One for reading and one for playing the game. But do whatever works for you. Maybe even let them play a game with you.

Tip #3 KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING! You can’t just turn on a camera and play a game you have to make a title for the stream, make sure your game capture software is running smoothly, test your microphone. Nobody wants to watch a stream with nobody talking.

Tip #4 GET GOOD EQUIPMENT!!! Nothing fancy at the start though. You don’t need a $500 studio microphone a $1000 gaming computer and a 1080p camera. A camera is just so people can see your face expressions and be more connected. Just keep it simple maybe a $50 microphone like a Blue Yeti or a Blue snowball microphone. You don’t need the best computer just make sure the stream is at least 30 frames per second and is at least 480 or 720P (720,480,and 1080P are resolutions or how high quality a screen is). Extra points for 1080P. Thank you for reading and keep in mind I hardly have scratched the tip of the iceberg when writing this. So, if you want more info just look it up on YouTube.
